Keeping studebts interested

There are many ways to keep a student interested in class. Take breaks allowing the kids to socialize five minutes tops. this well keep them from getting bored and take a break to be fresh to learn more. You could make the learning environment more comfortable by having swivel chairs or cushions i know i like a comfortable work space to my work. Learning environment is a key game changer when it comes to school but  so is the tools we use to help us learn.

Next year the school is providing us with Ipads. I think the iPad will help the students take more notes and be prepared for their tests. The ipad has many useful apps to help everyone. Because everyone learns a different. When i get the ipad i am going to search for tools to help study more for my tests, because i was not prepared this year at all.

Last but not least is study technique every one studies differently going on line. with friends, constant memorizing . I think the school should offer a class for study skills and concentration helping  you not procrastinate and get a C when you should be getting a B.  If there was a class for study skills most kids would not take it but the ones that do would see a great increase in their grades. I hope this was helpful those were just some of my thoughts to help kids stay interested in school

Ipad downloading

I think every student shoud be able to download what they want on their Ipad next year.  One reason so kids will be more excited for the ipad and motivate them to use it to learn. If  it did get out of control you would be able to monitor the downloads and confront the kids if they are innapropriate or getting out of hand. by giving the students the right to download what they want it might boost the student learning intrest alot. these are some thoughts on why letting kids download what they want could be good.

North shore technical high school app

There are my good things about this app. One is all teachershave a site where you can see what your homework is. They also have places where you can look at scholarships for high school. Next you can see sports schedules and even make notes for yourself to remind yourself later. North shore technical high school had the right idea with this app and I think it would help if we made an app for school to.

Sleep deprived

I agree with these surveys. Every day I get up and I am more and more tired. I get into school and sit in my classes. The teachers are talking and I am listening but i can't take I. Half the stuff they say because I don't have the energy to take it all in. This is bringing my grades down because on the test there is a lot of content I did not remember learning when I don't get sleep I am a mess.

Common sense

common sense is a good website for parents and kids. It is a good website for parents because it gives technology help and advice to parents about Internet safety. It helps kids by teaching them about tools and curricula to help them study and be more prepared for class. It is also a good help for kids because it can teach them new study tips and ways to get the most out of your learning. This is a good site for kids to go to before big test or quiz.

New Technology

I think with the new technology and apps for technology like Skype. With Skype we could hook up to the classroom from our own homes. This could eliminate school days and sick days. This would help the year go by quicker and eliminate the piles of work you get when you come back from being sick. this could also let the students be more comfortable when needing to learn. the downside is connection problems and social skills. If we had bad connection at our house and can not  get  the signal to your class the teacher might assume that you do not want to learn and are skipping. Also if we were always talking on the internet to people it would not help us talking to them in person. Skype is a good tool because it allows you to see the person you are talking you. There is also the possibility that a bad person will get the connection and that could not end well.

Car Miracle!

In the video above there is a car that can do something amazing. This car is driving itself. The day has finally come when a car is driving by itself with no help thanks to the Google team. They have built sensors to let the car know what is around it at all times. This could lower the DUI rate completely, it could help people without license and disabilities to be able to get where they want when they want by themselves. This is one of the greatest inventions ever made but that’s my opinion. I think this could make the roads safer and faster with less accidents and more intelligent drivers.

BHS Cafeteria Food

The BHS cafeteria food is not so great. Many of the meals are reheated and soggy. It barely tastes like it would if it was actually cook. Most of the food is not fresh and is mostly mystery meat. I do not eat it much but I sit at a table with many people and some of the comments are exactly the same. Although some of the food tastes good it is making us unhealthy. I am not blaming the lunch ladies but they should take charge and do something about it. There are some schools that do eat healthy here is a link to show what they are doing righthttp://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&channel=s&hl=en&source=hp&biw=1024&bih=603&q=healthy+eating+in+local+school&btnG=Google+Search

#22 find a mentor be a mentor

This year all of the freshman class kids  got assigned a mentor. Mine was one of my brothers friends. it helped alot because i was not shy to talk to him. it also helped that he was smart. He talked alot and was very helpful. He showed me some tips and tricks to help with the first day. He was a good mentor and set a good example of what to do and what not to do. I am glad I had him as my mentor.

Change Your Enviroment 30 goal challenge

Last week our web 2.0 class went down to the cafeteria. We used IPads to look at cool apps to help us learn. It was a good experience because we are getting IPads next year so it let us get used to them. While in the cafe it was much better than being stuck in a small classroom. I would like to do it again because it was fun and helped me learn.

Osama's death

Last night I had just found that Osama bin laden had died. My brother came up to my room when i was asleep and whispered the news to me. At first I was shocked, then yes I was happy, but then I started to think could this be worse for America. Could their be more terrorist attacks due to his death?Does this put America in danger? This kept me up for awhile thinking but finally settled down and went to bed. This experiance reminded me again of 9/11 and was glad this guy was dead. There are already many sights on his death twitter has at least 200 tweets a minute and there is a facebook page with over 150,000 folowers and likes. This shows how much people wanted osama dead from the start and how hated he really was. I think this takes a huge amount of stress off the american soliders and the president to worry more about our country and less of threats in other countries.

Ipad usage

I think the ipad should not be that distracting only to kids that don't want to learn. for the kids that want to learn it is going to be a big help it gives you all the info at your finger tips and can help you if you are stuck. i think facebook should not be a big distraction and it could help kids stay in contact with each other if it starts to get out of hand you shut it down for a while but it should not be a major problem.

Ipad So far

The ipad so far was good. The only trouble i had was typing, im just not use to the ipads touch screen. Other than that the Ipad has been fun. I have found some fun apps and it is really easy to search the web.  My most helpful app that i saw was flipboard it allowed me to flip through current news keeping me updated on what is going on throught the day. The Ipad has some good apps for school and should be a big help for our learning next year. It should be fun when we get the Ipads next year and im looking forward to it.

iPad app

The iPad app I found out About yesterday was flipboard. This was a cool app that allowed me to flip through pages of my favorite topics and current events. If you logged Into an account of yours you can see all of the stuff from that page. For Instance you can see updates from your twitter account, you can go through all the tweets. You can also see all the links people post spread out. This app helps you stay fresh on the current news and hot topics, it's like you have a newspaper on your lap just much much smaller. This apps helps you find your favorite topics without scrambling through your paper making a mess.

Digital footprint

Digital Footprint
I beleive that our digital footprint could help us learn. There are many people in the world that share the same ideas as you. If you wanted to learn about another language you could get intact with people that also want to learn that language. yes there are threats out there but if you are careful and not careless you will be able to avoid them. there are many sites to get in contact with people that can help you a good one is twitter it does not make you put personal info about yourself on your profile page. i have used twitter for over three months and it has increased my knowledge of many different topics it has helped with sports not just following sports but helpful hints that could improve your game. Also I have found many usefull Ipad apps to help my learning. If you are careful you can protect your digital footprint and learn many things while using helpful sites like twitter.

Boston Bruins

The Bruins have clinched the northeast division and have clinched a playoff birth. the Bruins are looking good this year with a record of 44-24-11 this is a good record placing them in third for the eastern conference. they have not won the Stanley cup in the last thirty years but this looks like a hopeful year for the Bruins. With the acquirements of Nathan Horton Tyler Seguin Greg Cambell  and later in the year Rich Peverly, Chris Kelly and Thomas Kaberle along with the 30+ goals from Milan Lucic their chances in my book are pretty good. I would like to see the Bruins win but won't be upset if they don’t they have provided me with hope for the future and a very exciting regular season this year. As you can see i am a huge Bruins fan and
would go crazy if they on.

But there’s one Team I absolutely hate is the Montreal Canadians

Hockey hints and Tips

Hockey can be an easy game if you no what your doing. If your a begginer you obviously have to know how to skate. next you have to be able to do funadamentals like stopping starting turning. After you have mastered that you can start on shooting, passing, and scoring. nexts comes the stickhandling if you have a puck or a ball you can practice stickhandling. Next comes the defensive part of and the most important you might have heard the saying" the best defense is a good offense" well this is true to play on D you not only have to know how to hit but you have to know where to be at all times or else one slip up and a puck trickles into the net. But the most important part of the game is knowing  the rules what your position is and how to play it, if you dont know your position you should get off the ice while you are still intact.Their are many sites you can go to if you need help i have also posted some pictures at the bottom that may help. you should also try off ice to it keeps you conditioned over the summer.

Bruins blow out the Habs 7-0 3/24/11 1080p HD

Bruins vs Montreal the other night was a high scoring game. But all the points were scored by the Bruins. The Bruins scored 7 goals in the game and Tim Thomas had a shutout. This game was an important game because last time we played the canadiens it was a very dirty game on both ends. It came down to the wire at the end But the bruins won that game 8-6. Bruins have always had a bad relationship with the canadiens and this was a good way to show them who the better of the two teams were. A couple nights ago the bruins beat the flyers to clinch a playoff spot were they hope to go all the and win the Stanley Cup.

Facebook 13 Things You Should Not Do

13 Things You Should Not Put On Facebook. These rules are correct but some are just common knowledge but some still do this. You should not put your phone number on because people could be calling you nonstop it could get you in trouble at school. Those are some minor consequences of putting your number online some people may use it to stock you and harass you. Next was putting where you go on vacation this is a serious threat. This is a serious threat because people could see this go to your house and break in by the time you get back your house would be destroyed. Next don’t put inappropriate pictures online if you’re a student a college could access this and colleges may decide they don’t want you anymore. Last is your Childs name if they found out where they went to school a stranger could pick them up and you might never see your kid again. Those are some reasons why you should not put personal stuff on Facebook.

Japan Destruction

Last friday a devastating earthquake hit Japan. This was considered one of the worst earthquakes ever. the earthquake was 8.8 on the rictor scale. Just when you thought that was bad soon after a tsunami hit, They say it was do to the earthquake. This devastated Japan killing whats expected to be over ten thousand and injuring much more. This was the fifth largest earthquake of all time. After all the disaster there were still some threats like nuclear powerplants. Two powerplants have already exploded and there are still threats that another could go off. Even when that was all done the country of Japan will still be in danger becuase of all the toxins and gases that came from the explosions. But the main concern is will they be able to recover from this devastating disater.

Tech in classrooms

The latest technology used in classrooms has been the Ipad. In my history class we have started using Ipads to right a short paper on school reform. These have been helpful not only because fast internet but they are portable. The idea of moving around in class consulting other people is much better then just sitting at a stationary place for the whole time period. With the Ipads I was able to talk to my classmates individually and brainstorm ideas with them. The Ipad was also usefull in class because it has no mouse or keyboard, -you do that all with your hand which I think is more convinient. Technology in class especially the Ipads helped me finish quicker with less hassle. I think pretty soon every school will use Ipads not just ours.

Blabberize!

BLABBERIZE is a cool and intresting way to write what you think. This site is like voki accept you can pick any photo you want. When you pick your photo you write what  you think you can record your own voice and also type what you want to say and the avatar says it. This could be helpful for someone who has lost their voice you can write it and have the avatar on the computer could say it although that sounds pointless it's really fun. Also if you were not going to be there one day send the link to the class and have the avatar explain what you will be doing in class. There are obviously easier ways to contact and tell the students  what to do but this site adds some fun to the lecture.  Blabberize is one of the many sites you can pick a picture and have it talk but blabberize gives you th most freedom. If you want to have fun while learning in class check out this cool website.

Ipad 2

Apple has just came out with the new Ipad its called the Ipad two. They have made several changes to the Ipad two. Although it sounds expensive the Ipad two is still going for its original price. The first change is the two cameras front and back too take photos and do live chats face too face with other people. This could help if you wanted to take a virtual class. Next is the magnetic smart cover when  it attaches to Ipad the Ipad goes into sleep mode conserving the energy. The cover also switches into a useful stand to hold up the Ipad. Last is the thinness of the Ipad two it is 33% thinner and 15% lighter than the original Ipad and it holds more data.We will be using the new Ipad two in school next year and I can't wait.

Teachers and Facebook?

In the article Teaching the Facebook Generation it tells us how to many teachers are not able to keep their distance from students on facebook. I agree that this could be bad but teachers know the risk when creating a facebook page. Teachers can always block there personal info from non friends. also they dont have to accept the students request. It can be risky but why should teachers not be able to get a facebok its a little unfair. I think teachers should be able to have a facebook.

Nhl trade deadline

In two weeks the NHL trade deadline will have arrived. many teams will try to acquire players that can help them. The team i am following is the Boston Bruins. They are looking to acquire a defensmen or a forward. they have been looking for someone do to their frequent injuries. with Marc Savard out they are looking for a top center that can boost them to the playoffs. As for a defensmen they are looking for someone that has experience and is quick. some rumors are going around about different people that you can look at on this site. This could be an important day for the bruins will they make a trade or will they not.

Should students have phones in school?

Students should be able to have phones in school. The first reason is that students may need to use their phones for after school purposes. If students do not have their phones they will need to use the office phone and with all the people it could take a while. Also if students are not sure and cant hear what the teacher is saying they could record the class to look over it again later that allows you to learn more. Next if  there is a threat in the school you could easily use your phone to contact the local police. lastly if worst comes to worst and you dont have a calculator your phone most likely has an app that is a calculator. students should not be able to have phones. Here are some reasons why not to have phones, first it could distract the students by getting texts every two minutes not allowing the kids to pay attention wich could lead to bad grades. lastly if you get caught with your phone the teacher could get mad at you and either start not to like you or tell your parents and get punished. This article  brings many great pros and cons to the topic of cell phones and schools check it out.

last nights Superbowl was an exciting one from green bay and the Steelers to the funny commercials. Here are some of my thoughts about it. First I thought Green Bay played a great game and Aaron Rogers had a great performance. The QB for the Packers  Aaron rogers won the Superbowl MVP award and carried the team on his shoulders to an amazing win over the  Steelers. Although the Steelers did not win they had a heck of a game they even came close at the end. But Charles woodson's  touching halftime speech after he had just been injured  inspired the Packers to play their hardest even though they were ahead, the packers did just that and won Super Bowl 45. Here are some of woodson's thoughts. the next thing i would like to talk about  is the commercials although not as good as before there was a lot of funny commercials in this years Superbowl from Doritos to cars they made me laugh.here are some of the commercials. Other than that those are my thoughts on the Superbowl.

will Facebook strengthen student teacher connections

In the article i have just read it explains how Facebook could help you talk and share feelings with a teacher. in the article it says how Facebook could help you talk to a teacher about what they have said in the recent class. i agree with this because i know from experience it is hard to talk to a teacher face to face and tell them you do not get it. through Facebook you can private chat them and simply ask them the question with out all the awkwardness. this could also be a bad thing one because it does not teach you how to talk to someone you don,t feel comfortable with and it gives them access to chats with friends and pictures of something you don,t want them to see. also in the article it states that the teachers Facebook page could alert you if we had school. lastly they make and interesting point in the article that if you are sick you can still attend class. this is good because no more makeup work that keep adding up till you are fed up with it and full with stress. i think that is a great idea because i have had the experience and it is not fun Facebook could help you these are my thought about why and why not students and teachers should communicate through Facebook.

RSA Animate - Changing Education Paradigms

I think the points about how kindergarten kids have more creativity and thought than most adults was pretty cool. I do not disagree because most of what he said was right to me because i have seen it happen in real life. I found the kindergarten kids part the most interesting and surprising i thought as you got older you would get smarter.
